Meet Shane Dye
Shane joined New Zealand Police in 1993, beginning a distinguished career that would see him become one of the region’s most experienced investigators.
In 1998, he moved into the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) as a Detective, where he specialised in:
Fraud investigations
Complex criminal investigations
Organised crime targeting
Intelligence gathering
Interviewing and statement collection
Obtaining evidence
Preparing files for Police and court proceedings
Disclosure review and evidential analysis
Over the following two decades, Shane built extensive experience in serious and complex investigations, rising through senior ranks including:
Detective Sergeant (DS)
Detective Senior Sergeant (Snr Sgt)
He later led teams responsible for targeting high-level organised crime in the Tasman District, overseeing sophisticated investigations that required leadership, discretion, strategy, and exacting attention to detail.
